Die Blou Huis

It's like sleeping on the beach

Once you see Die Blou Huis, the name of this historical beach house strikes you as very appropriate and to the point. The name means ‘The Blue House’ which is a literal description of this double storey house towering over its neighbours.

The size of the house is deceiving because it sits on a long, narrow site. It is right on the beach and built on poles because the water is sometimes so high that the water flows in under the house.

Die Blou Huis is on Still Bay’s western beach, the Son en See beach, which is one of four Still Bay beaches boasting blue flag status. The beach is safe and clean with lots of sand where small children can safely build their sand castles and sun seekers can catch up on their tanning. Right in front of the house.

The water sport junkies don’t need to drive down to the shore to bring their equipment and food and drinks for the day. It is right there in the house. How much more convenient can it get?

Sitting on the sand, the deck or laying in your bed, no matter where you are, it is always there, the sound of the sea. Ever changing as the mood of the sea changes – sometimes quietly whispering, sometimes loud and menacing.

Even the weather is fickle, suddenly changing from clear skies, sun and a slight breeze to cloudy with strong winds, to misty with fog banks rolling in from the sea. This is what makes a Stilbaai holiday so special and invigorating – never knowing what the weather will bring next.

Die Blou Huis is near most amenities, the golf course, Stilbaai Harbour as well as Skulpiesbaai Nature Reserve and the ancient fish traps.

This stimulating coastal town is in the Hessequa municipal area of the Garden Route in the Western Cape Province, South Africa. Developed on either side of the Goukou River estuary where it meets the Indian Ocean.

Die Blou Huis comfortably accommodates 12 self-catering guests at a time in this perfectly positioned beach front holiday home in Stilbaai West.

Time wasted at the beach is time well spent
